Job description
About NOWATCH
NOWATCH is an Amsterdam-based health innovation company for the curious. By blending cutting-edge technology with the leading science around mental health, we explore the frontiers of wellbeing. NOWATCH pioneers in the wearable market with new algorithms and sensors. Our hardware and software solution is part of a large and growing wearable industry.
Why Creative Developer?
We don’t believe in the hard line between design and development anymore. With AI accelerating the way we write code, the real differentiator is no longer technical output alone — it’s creative vision, taste, and the ability to think across disciplines.
We’re looking for a T-shaped creative who can concept in Figma over morning coffee and ship production code by the afternoon. Someone who sees design and engineering as one continuous workflow, not two separate handoffs.
The Role
As our Creative Developer, you'll own our headless e-commerce platform (Next.js on Shopify) and shape the digital brand experience that lives on it. You won't just implement designs — you'll influence them. From campaign landing pages to product storytelling, micro-interactions to conversion experiments, you'll be involved from concept to code.
This is a startup. You’ll wear multiple hats, move fast, and have an outsized impact on how the world experiences NOWATCH online.
What You’ll Do
Design and build pages, components, and interactions for our headless Shopify webshop (Next.js + Tailwind CSS)
Move fluidly between Figma and code — concepting, prototyping, and shipping within the same workflow
Create animations, micro-interactions, and motion design that bring our brand story to life on the web
Collaborate with Marketing on campaigns, product launches, and conversion experiments
Use AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) to accelerate your workflow and push the boundaries of what you can build
Maintain code quality and design consistency while iterating fast based on data and feedback
Help shape the visual direction of our digital presence alongside the broader creative team
Job requirements
Must-haves
A portfolio that shows both design thinking and front-end craftsmanship — we want to see your eye, not just your code
Proven experience building with Next.js and modern React
Comfort working with Shopify’s headless commerce architecture (Storefront API, Liquid awareness is a plus)
Strong sense of typography, layout, spacing, and visual hierarchy
Experience implementing animations and motion design on the web (Framer Motion, GSAP, CSS animations)
Ability to translate brand strategy and marketing briefs into compelling digital experiences
A growth mindset — you care about conversion, performance, and user experience as much as aesthetics
Fluency with AI-assisted development — you already use tools like Claude Code or Cursor in your daily work and aren’t afraid to experiment with new ones
Nice-to-haves
Experience with WebGL, Three.js, or Spline for immersive 3D web experiences
Background working at a startup, agency, or in e-commerce
Familiarity with Figma’s developer mode and design-to-code workflows
Interest in creative coding, generative design, or interactive storytelling
